The greatest country in the world?

Trump this, Trump that. Trump. Trump. Trump. I feel like it got repetitive the minute he became the POTUS. The idea of a face for all the blame is to its core an American concept. I mean let’s take a quick stroll through history, there was Castro in the 60s then we got Bin Laden in the 2000s and now we have Trump, not to mention many less significant names. There’s a very bizarre pattern taking place, the constant presence of a body to blame in the American political narrative. It picks at your brain and gets you to start paying extra attention to the finer details of their actions. I’m not here to bore you with the complete history of American supremacy but rather a single concept that has caused the very unfortunate and ominous chain of events that we now recognise as modern history.

Pax Americana, the number one cause of volatility and instability in the contemporary world. Simply put, Pax Americana is the declaration that allows the US to involve itself in any foreign situation in the name of “Freedom and Democracy”. If you’re not aware of foreign policy, the international community condemns any involvement in the sovereign matters of states but the US gets a free pass. This has been a topic of constant discussion throughout the history of the United Nations but since the very peculiar events of 9/11, the international narrative has shifted towards security rather than sovereignty which has made it even easier for securitised moguls like the US to move freely without condemnation from the International Community (don’t get me started on 9/11).

You must understand that the United States has struggled pre-9/11 to strike a deal with large oil extracting countries in the Middle East, which is marked by very heavy involvement by the CIA in the region since the 1960s. How else would you fabricate justifiable intervention in a region that strongly condemns meddling ? You destabilise the region. Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, you name it. The destabilisation was more evident in some countries than others, some went from industrial dystopias to war-ravaged wastelands.

How is US intervention publicised? The word “freedom” is no stranger to the countless articles and news reports covering what is truly an invasion. American brutality is a norm, because guess what? The media covers up their dirt. There are countless accounts of rape, abuse and pointless murder committed by the American military. Arabs are called “Sand Niggers” or “Hajis” and women dehumanised and their identities and self-respect stripped away.

Greatest country in the world ? Is the 27th in Math, 22nd in Science, 178th in Infant Mortality, 1st in incarcerated citizens per capita and 1st in Defence spending at a whooping $700M per DAY.

The United States have successfully created a mirage called the “American Dream”, an ideologically seductive impression of life in the land of the “free”. Hollywood has outdone itself in marketing this ideology to every single household around the world, to create a collective illusion of the greatness of the United States.

I appreciate your opinions and I would love to hear more of what you have to say! I will elaborate on Pax Americana and American imperialism further as soon as I can.
